Drag and drop a PDF file here
Drag the page thumbnails, or use the arrow buttons, to change the order. How to use
- Drop a PDF onto the box or press Choose a file. Page thumbnails appear straight away.
- Drag a thumbnail to a new position, or use the arrow buttons under it to move it one place at a time.
- Press Start over if you want to undo all changes and return to the original order.
- Press Save new order. The rearranged PDF downloads as a new file, and your original stays unchanged.
Why reorder PDF pages
Pages end up in the wrong order all the time. A scanner feeds a stack upside down, two documents are combined in the wrong sequence, or an appendix needs to move to the end before a report is sent. Printing, cutting and rescanning is slow, and desktop PDF editors are expensive. With this tool you open the PDF, drag the pages into place and save a corrected copy in seconds.
How it works
When you open a file, the tool reads the page count and shows a grid of thumbnails. Thumbnails are drawn lazily: only the ones near the visible part of the screen are rendered, so even a very long document appears immediately and scrolling stays smooth. Moving a page only changes the planned order on screen. When you press Save new order, a new PDF is built in a background thread with the pages in the sequence you chose, and it downloads automatically.
Reordering tips
- To move a page a long way, drag it with the mouse. For small adjustments the arrow buttons are more precise.
- Page numbers under the thumbnails always show the original position, which makes it easy to check the final sequence against a table of contents.
- If you need to reverse a scanned stack, it is often quicker to start from the last page and move each page to the front in turn.
- Combine files first with the merge tool, then fix the overall order here.
Accessibility
Every move can be done without a mouse. Each thumbnail has buttons labeled with the page number, so keyboard and screen reader users can move a page back or forward one step at a time. Focus stays on the button you pressed, so you can press it repeatedly to move a page several places.
Privacy
Because all processing is local, the tool is suitable for confidential files such as contracts, medical records or HR documents. Closing the tab removes the file from memory.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I rearrange pages with the keyboard?
- Yes. Press Tab to reach the arrow buttons under each thumbnail and press Enter or Space to move that page one place back or forward. Screen readers announce each button with the page number.
- Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
- No. The thumbnails are drawn and the new PDF is built by your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent over the internet.
- Does it work with long documents?
- Yes. Thumbnails are drawn only when they scroll into view, so documents with hundreds of pages open quickly. Saving time depends on the file size and your device.
- Will reordering reduce quality?
- No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.
- Can I also rotate or delete pages?
- Use the rotate and delete tool for that. You can run the result of one tool through the other.
- Why can't I open my file?
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first, and damaged files need to be re-saved from a PDF viewer. The tool shows a specific message for each case.
