How to use
- Open the PDF you want to split. The page count and thumbnails appear straight away.
- Choose how to split. Type page ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-, split every N pages, or click thumbnails to pick pages.
- For ranges, decide whether each range becomes its own file or all the pages go into one file.
- Press the split button. One result downloads as a PDF; several results download together as a ZIP file.
When to split a PDF
Large PDFs are hard to share and awkward to work with. You might need to send just one chapter of a report, submit a single page of a signed contract, attach only the invoice from a scanned batch, or break a textbook into sections for easier reading on a phone. Splitting creates smaller files that contain exactly the pages you need.
Three ways to split
By page ranges. Type the pages you want, for example “1-3, 5, 8-”. With “a separate file for each range” turned on, you get three files: pages 1–3, page 5 and pages 8 to the end. Turn the option off to extract all those pages into a single file.
Every N pages. Useful for scanned batches where each document has the same number of pages, such as two-page forms. A 10-page scan split every 2 pages produces five files.
Pick pages. Click thumbnails to select the pages you want. This is the easiest method when you are looking for particular pages by sight rather than by number.
How it works
The PDF is opened in your browser and shown as thumbnails, which are drawn only as they scroll into view so even long documents open quickly. When you press the button, a background thread copies the selected pages into new PDF files. If there is more than one file, they are bundled into a ZIP archive and downloaded together. The original file is never modified.
Examples
A 12-page report with ranges “1-2, 3-8, 9-” produces three files named after the original with the page numbers added, such as report-p1-2.pdf. The same report split every 4 pages produces report-part1.pdf, report-part2.pdf and report-part3.pdf.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I write page ranges?
- Separate pages and ranges with commas. "1-3" means pages 1 to 3, "5" is a single page, "8-" runs from page 8 to the end and "-4" runs from the first page to page 4. Spaces are ignored.
- Can I extract pages in a different order?
- Yes. Ranges are used in the order you type them, so "5, 1-2" puts page 5 first. When combining everything into one file, a page listed twice is included only once.
- Why do I get a ZIP file?
- When a split produces more than one PDF, they are packed into a single ZIP so you only have to save once. Most computers and phones open ZIP files without extra software.
- Is my file uploaded?
- No. The PDF is split inside your browser. You can go offline after the page loads and the tool still works.
- Will the split files lose quality?
- No. Pages are copied without changes, so text, images and fonts stay exactly as they were.
- What if my range is wrong?
- The tool checks your ranges as you type and explains the problem, such as a page number beyond the end of the document or a range written backwards.
